An Evening With Bob Zellner

ON THE ROAD — Raining in Wilson, NC, where I spent yesterday evening with Bob Zellner, author of “Wrong Side of Murder Creek” and a member of SNCC in the 60s — a southern white boy getting his head beat in with his black friends, called a communist conspirator, brave beyond belief. He laughs now as he reminisces. Easy with names and contact info, but reticent about the details. Understandable. Like most legends, he’s a modest guy, still working in the trenches, now on a project here with NAACP. A memorable evening.

From the Road

securedownload-1_2Monday, Feb. 25, Wilson, NC — Spent last  night in Raleigh, first at dinner with Margaret Underwood and Linda Wolf, who picked me up at the airport and took me to this mammoth steak house called The Angus Barn (I know. It sounds dreadful but it’s just very, very odd). We retired to a nearby Hampton Inn for some rest, then they drove me over to Wilson, where I’m to interview my first person on this trip.
But in between, at the Hampton, I sat down on the bed, flipped on the TV, and stayed glued for about the last half of the Oscars — the part I wanted to see. And I was soooooo pleased. Jennifer Lawrence literally tripped onto the stage to accept the golden statuette. I was so pleased I coulda just popped! This girl is so gifted, I can hardly wait to see what she does next. She’s still one of the Winter’s Bone family, and just like a regular family, we’re all proud as punch. Congrats and may this be the first of many, kid. You’re a peach.
Stay tuned for more news from the road, as the search for clues to a screenplay continues. Tomorrow, it’s on to Washington. DC that is. By train. Sometimes life is just too much fun.

Those wanting to discuss, argue or just visit, though, can still reach me here, or Sarah at the office. I’ll pop in now and again to report on our doings and such. IT SEEMS TO BE THE INDY FILM THAT WOULDN’T DIE– AND I’M GLAD

Winter's BoneWe’ve been selling the Winter’s Bone soundtrack a few at a time, some weeks four or five, some weeks none. But this week, just as we were beginning to run low and put in a request to our distributor for more copies, the film was shown nationwide on the independent Film Channel, and simultaneously Amazon announced that the soundtrack was out of stock from all supplier except US.

After a bit of fancy dancing by Sarah and I (and I know that sounds far fetched — I’m only a dancer in the most rare of circumstances — we have had a longer and more urgent chat with said distributor, and now more are on the way.

So if you’re desperate to hear The Missouri Waltz or Farther Along just one more time, don’t despair. Contact us here and we’ll get one to you just as soon as the reinforcements arrive. And thanks for thinking well of us. You’re the ones that keep us going.

Did everyone see Winter’s Bone on TV tonight? Fantastic huh.

It came to our attention that we were getting low on inventory of the soundtrack and Sarah tried to get more copies from the supplier. Seems there is a back order. As soon as the Winter’s Bone Soundtrack is available for sale again we will let you know. Stay tuned!

We are currently exploring the possibility of a UK and nearby tour in late summer, 2013. This would include  gigs in the United Kingdom, with possible asides to places in Sweden, Norway, France and the Netherlands. We’d even consider Germany if the right arrangements can be made. Dates we’re looking at are from about July 20 to August 25. Please send us info on venues in your neighborhood that might be a good fit for us. And talk us up. We’d love to come see you.
