Winter’s Bone personnel are running ragged to get to all the Spring Film Festivals in which they’ve been entered. Since the movie snagged the top prize at Sundance (Grand Juried Prize for best Dramatic Cinema) as well as a screenwriting award, momentum has been steadily building. The film was picked up for North American Distribution by Roadside Attractions, Inc., while European distribution will be handled by Fortissimo Films, Inc. The most continuous applause, however, is being reaped by singer CONTACT _Con-3F647C661 \c \s \l Marideth Sisco, whose voice is featured at the beginning and end of the film, and who appears in a scene midway at a picking session. Go here to see a film clip on YouTube.
Marideth will represent the film at the SXSW (South-By-Southwest) Music and Film Festival in Austin, Tx. March 12 through 17, and also appear at the Kansas City Film Fest April 16-17. There is also some buzz about a possible musical appearance at a local club during the festival. Stay tuned.
Plans for an appearance at the Edinburgh Film Festival are on hold, as the event coincides with an appearance by Marideth and other Winter’s Bone musicians (including West Plains guitarist Dennis Crider, who also appeared in the film) at the Old Time Music Ozarks Heritage Festival on June 18. Festival goers there should also look for an appearance by Marideth and Dennis with their local band, the Davis Creek Rounders.
More news to come. Don’t touch that dial.
